Using MSWord
formatting on Nicenet
by David
Nippoldt
You
can create a word-processed document and transfer it more or less intact to Nicenet. While the
final result will not mirror your Word document, you will maintain:
§
bold, italic, underline
§
indents
§
font
§
relative font size
§
tables
§
left, center, right, justify
§
bullets
You
may not include clip art or other inserted files. Line spacing will
likely be different that your original document.
After
creating your document in MSWord, begin with step one. These instructions are
for MS Word 2003 and MS Internet Explorer v 6.0.
Save
your Word document. Then, preview your document as an internet document. Click
on View at the top of the
screen and select Web Layout. Make any necessary changes. Save your
document again.
Now
click on File and select Web Page Preview. A new window
will open.
In
this new window, click on View and
select Source. Another window will
open that you cannot read. This is good!
(You’re looking at your document in HTML code, one of the languages of
the Internet. Later you’ll be copying
this code into a Nicenet document.).
This
step isn’t as hard as it seems. At the top of the page (that you cannot read),
click Edit and select Select All. Then click Edit and select Copy.
Go
to your Nicenet class page and find the place where
you want to add or turn in your assignment.
When Nicenet asked for Document Text, don’t type anything.
Simply click on Edit then
Paste. It will look something like this. Click on Add
Document and you’re done!
